Drivers Used in Imaging

Driver Organization in SCCM

In order to keep individual driver package size down, and following recommendations that came out of a Microsoft Health Check performed in 2013, the SCCM drivers are organized into packages based on manufacturer and form factor.   In addition, the Tablet form factor is not being separated out by manufacturers at this time, and an “Other” package exists for drivers that come directly from device manufacturers as opposed to machine manufacturers.  Additional packages were created for the SCCM Imaging Driver rebuild over Spring Break 2014 to include combo driver packs from the vendors, also organized by vendor and form factor, but separate from the other packages.

Requesting Additional Drivers for SCCM and WDS

Additional drivers for SCCM and WDS imaging should be copied into a new folder in the driver staging area, be sure to include both 32 and 64 bit drivers if both are available:

\\wolftech.ad.ncsu.edu\deployment\Staging\Drivers

Requests for new drivers should be sent to: activedirectory_imaging@help.ncsu.edu

The request should include the location of the drivers and the Manufacturer and Model of the machine that the drivers are for so that they can be placed in the appropriate driver package.

If certain drivers are needed to be included in one of the Windows PE boot images in SCCM or WDS, please indicate which boot images need the drivers.
